Catronic is..... Olaf Schulz
The music and video project was established in 2007. The first solo Ep `Catmosphere´ released in 2007 and was a collaboration with the artist and painter Hans Schorn. The CD was obtained only in the Düsseldorf artist's studioin Düsseldorf studio when buying one of his works.The first longplay album with the same title was released end 2007 and the first video clip of the titletrack was produced.
The second album was released in 2009 "Catopolis". This significantly more mature work is a musical soundtrack to an imaginary science fiction film.Dark and experimental songs ("Catopolis"," Astrosphere "),but also catchy melodies ("The Last Astronaut", "ElectronicDream") can be found there. The songs are all linked together, so "Catopolis" takes the listener on an electronic travel. First 2D animated video clips were produced ( the last astronaut & and the two parts of apollo square. They are about an astronaut who flies on the look out for someone alone through space ("The Last Astronaut"), searching for fuel("Apollo Square part 1 ") and enters a space race (" ApolloSquare - the race ").
In early 2010 "Catronic-Remixed" was released. It´s a link between "Catopolis" and the album "Electronic Catwalk".
"Electronic Catwalk" is about the relationship between humans and machines or technology in general.It has been inspired by the book "ROBOTER VISIONEN" by Isaac Asimov. The song "Synthesize me!" tells a story between two robots, who fell in love.. Another track is about the phenomenon of synaesthesia with colours and sounds that merge into an electronic song. The videos produced for Electronic Catwalk emphasize the topic of the album. Elements such as the binary code or silhouettes of people and buildings, underline the mood of the album.
In October 2010 Catronic won the remix competition of the Swedish band 'Deathstars'. His version of 'The Fuel Ignites'appears on the platinum edition of 'Night Electric Night' and the CD 'Decade OfDebauchery' (Nuclear Blast Records).
4 tracks for the film 'Local Heroes' were recorded and published on thesame-titled soundtrack.
"Remixed 2" was released in 2011. The album gets a nomination for the Schallwelle Award, the german award for electronic music, in the category 'bestnational album 2011'. Catronic itself was nominated in the category 'Best Artist national 2011´.
In August 2012, "Catalogue" was released.
It is the electronic essence from the years 2007 to 2012. The Catronic concentrate. The iconic "Echo Sounder (Hello!)", the mystical "Cosmo Diva" and the dreamy "Cat Paw Dub (OK)" can be found on the album as well as there-electrified "Magnetic Diary" and the quiet "Catmosphere", with it all began.
"Atomic Avenue" was released in December 2012. It tells about thedesire of freedom of all people in this modern time. It appears as an audio CD,as well as a CD + DVD edition with 6 video clips from "AtomicAvenue".
Once again Catronic was nominated for the Schallwelle Awards, as well as"Atomic Avenue".
Olaf Schulz is ... CATRONIC
Born and raised in the depths of the industrial Ruhr region. Inspired by the music of the 80s and the fascination with synthesizers, Olaf started to composeand produce his own songs.
With his first band 'La Course' (later La `Curse ') the song "No Use" was released on the 'Celtic Circle Sampler Part 2' (1994).The Ep 'Waves' (1998)was published as an in-house production. They played live in Leipzig as thesupport of 'The Invincible Spirit" (1993) and in Bochum as the support of`Static Icon` and 'Evils Toy` (1996).
After renaming to 'Ego Blue ` the ep "Unicorn Songs" was released.The song 'Alderan Biotics' found its way onto the compilation 'ElectrolutionPart 1' (1998 - HoM Records), which was praised in the "Keyboard" magazin of September 1998. "Ego Blue" played live in the Bochum zecheas the support of De/Vision.
2002 Olaf remixed the song 'Like A Child' for the band `Rêve Synthetique` which was released as a maxi-CD.
From 2004 to 2007, he produced the radio show "Electronic Catwalk" for a local radio station called 'Hit Radio-Vest'. It was about electronicsongs of local artists.
2007 Catronic was founded.
2010 Olaf plays in a scene in the movie " Im Zeichen des A" by filmmaker and Grimme award winner Ulle Bowski. There it is shown in a humorous way, how to compose music for a movie. Another collaboration with Ulle Bowskiwas the production of the soundtrack to the movie 'Local Heroes' (2010).

Das Musik und Videoprojekt wurde 2007 gegründet. Die erste Solo Ep `Catmosphere` von Catronic erschien 2007 und war eine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Künstler und Maler Hans Schorn. Die CD erhielt man nur in dem Düsseldorfer Atelier des Künstlers beim Kauf eines seiner Werke.
Die erste gleichnamige Longplay-CD erschien Ende 2007.Der erste Videoclip von Catronic zu dem Titeltrack wurde veröffentlicht.
2009 erscheint `Catopolis`.Das deutlich reifere Werk ist ein musikalischer Soundtrack zu einem imaginären Science Fiction Film. Teils düstere und experimentelle Songs (´Catopolis´,´Astrosphere´), aber auch eingängigere Melodien (´The Last Astronaut´,´Electronic Dream´) finden sich dort wieder. Die einzelnen Songs sind alle miteinander verbunden, sodass ´Catopolis´ den Hörer auf eine elektronische Reise mitnimmt. Gleichzeitig wurden zu den Titeln ´The Last Astronaut` und dem Musikalischen Zweiteiler `Apollo-Square´ erste 2D-Animierte Videoclips produziert. Sie handeln von einem Astronauten, der auf der Suche nach jemanden alleine durch das All fliegt (´The Last Astronaut`), seinen Tank neu füllen muss ( `Apollo-Square part 1`) und an einem Space-Rennen teilnimmt ( `Apollo-Square - the race`).
Das Anfang 2010 veröffentlichte Album `Catronic-Remixed` bildet eine Brücke zwischen ´Catopolis´ und dem im August veröffentlichten Album `Electronic Catwalk`. Die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Technik wird dort im elektronischen Gewand behandelt, selbst eine Romanze zwischen zwei Robotern findet auf dem Album thematisch Platz. Ein weiterer Song beschreibt das Phänomen Synaesthetik, Farben und Sounds fließen ineinander und bilden eine Einheit. Die hierfür produzierten Videos beinhalten Elemente, wie den Binärcode oder Silhouetten von Menschen und Gebäuden, um die Grundstimmung des Albums zu unterstreichen.

Olaf Schulz ist ... CATRONIC

Records), welches in der Magazinausgabe der ´Keyboards´ vom September 1998 lobend erwähnt wurde. Höhepunkt dieser Zeit war der Auftritt in der Bochumer Zeche als Support von ´De/Vision´ (1998).
2002 mischte Olaf für die Band `Rêve Synthetique` den Song ´Like A Child´ neu ab, der als Maxi-CD veröffentlicht wurde.
Von 2004 bis 2007 wurde die Radiosendung `Electronic Catwalk` für den Recklinghäuser Lokalsender ´Hit-Radio-Vest´ produziert. Dort wurden elektronische Songs bekannter und lokaler Künstler vorgestellt.
2007 wurde Catronic gegründet.
2010 spielt Olaf in einer Szene des Kinofilm ´Im Zeichen des A ´ vom Filmemacher und Grimmepreisträgers Ulle Bowski mit. Dort wird auf humoristische Weise gezeigt, wie ein Soundtrack entsteht. Eine weitere Zusammenarbeit mit Ulle Bowski war die Produktion des Soundtracks zu dem Kinofilm ´Local Heroes ´ (2010).
